Born outside of Seoul, South Korea, I am a transracial, transnational adoptee who enjoys working with other transracial adopted individuals, Asian American adoptees exploring their identity and what it means to be part of the Asian disapora, and adult domestic adoptees navigating the transitions out of foster and adoption systems.
While I have formal education and continue to learn about Asian histories, adoption history and current practices, I am honored to hear the stories of clients and how their adoption experience impacts their daily lives. I practice from a holistic and developmental model, taking into consideration the lifespan experiences of my clients and helping them choose how to tell their own story. As adopted individuals, our stories often get told for us - with adoptive parents and professionals speaking on our behalf. I offer space in sessions for clients to share their story, sit with the nuances of multiple labels and identities, and make peace with their past and welcome their future with open arms.
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and layer in trauma-based therapy, narrative therpay, values-work, self-compassion, sensorimotor, and additional experiental therapies like writing, music, and art (I am not an art/music therapist) to enhance the therapy space. I love a good book and recommend books, podcasts, apps, and websites to clients on a regular basis! In my sessions, we will talk about all facets of life and welcome all parts of our self to be present and heal.
I look forward to connecting and journeying together on a path toward healing and compassion.
