Leech Lake Foster Care and Adoption Program mission statement : To protect a child's sense of belonging to family and Tribe by promoting family preservation through the use of the seven traditional Anishinaabe values and by providing services that ensure the health, safety, and welfare of Leech Lake children. I have been working as the Guardian/Adoption Specialist for more than one year, and previously worked as a Lead Case Manager and Case Manager for Leech Lake Child Welfare for nine and half years. My life experience as a foster child , aging out of foster care, working as a social worker and actively working in community development and community services in Northern Ontario and Northern Minnesota has been a life long learning and fulfilling journey. My passion for revitalizing our families and communities with accessible and culturally healing supports / services keeps me on this journey.
